Abdu Nafan from the University of Debrecen Visits the Faculty of Management

Abdu Nafan is a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Debrecen, Hungary. Under the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS), he spent three weeks conducting research mobility at VŠE. “I was surprised by how friendly and welcoming people are here,” he said. “I like this peaceful town because it allows me to focus on my research while also enjoying exploring Jindřichův Hradec and nearby cities such as České Budějovice, Český Krumlov, and Prague. I also managed to join a recreational walk during the ‘Sport Day’ event organized by the faculty in Jarošov nad Nežárkou,” he continued.

He previously worked as a Human Resource Manager at a private hospital in Indonesia. His research focuses on public health policy, and he has worked on a project within the Task Force on Determinants of Health Inequalities as part of the European Burden of Disease Network. His latest publication analyzes the impact of sugar tax policy and physical activity on disease burden in Central and Eastern European countries. “I learned and gained a lot during discussions and meetings with experts at VŠE. This mobility program provided a highly valuable academic experience that significantly enhanced my understanding, particularly in system dynamics modeling and health economic evaluation. The combination of theoretical discussions, practical applications, and expert feedback contributed meaningfully to the development of my research and will support my future academic work.”

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of Civitas Academia for their warm welcome and continuous support throughout my CEEPUS mobility program here. I am especially thankful to the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Mojmír Sabolovič, Ph.D.; the academic adviser and Vice-Dean for Strategy and Development, Stanislav Tripes, Ph.D.; Assoc. Prof. Peter Pažitný, Ph.D.; and Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Kincl, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Science, Research and Doctoral Studies, as well as to the heads of departments, administrative staff, librarians, and fellow local and international students at VŠE,” he added.
