Good practices in financing healthcare services in ophthalmology: a team of researchers from the Faculty of Management successfully finished an international project
We invite you to have a deep dive into nuances of financing mechanisms in ophthalmology across Visegrad countries and Ukraine.
After +18 months of international collaboration between Warsaw School of Economics, Prague University of Economics and Business, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) and University of Debrecen we are pleased to announce publishing the REPORT ON GOOD PRACTICES IN FINANCING HEALTHCARE SERVICES IN OPHTHALMOLOGY including infographics for Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine. The team of Prague University of Economics & Business covered Czech Republic and Slovakia in the project.
Overall, our findings suggest various areas where the cataract, glaucoma, vitrectomy, AMD, DME, and corneal transplant treatments in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia can be improved, such as financing options, quality control systems, reimbursement revisions, early detection measures, and utilization of advanced technologies.
Ukraine can learn from the Visegrad countries’ experiences, especially in areas such as financing mechanisms, coverage of treatments, diagnostic screenings, and improving the quality and accessibility of ophthalmic surgeries. Implementation of these practices would require careful consideration of Ukraine’s specific healthcare system and legal framework.
We would also like to thank the Visegrad Fund for funding this research, as well as all the institutions and their representatives who participated in the interviews, shared their insights, and support the information-based health policymaking.
Summary Report on Good Practices in Financing Healthcare Services in Ophthalmology including infographics available in English and local language by country can be found on the project’s homepage.
