Faculty of Management of the Prague University of Economics and Business hosted the 9th Meeting of the Association of Deans of Economic Faculties

The Faculty of Management of the Prague University of Economics and Business hosted the 9th Meeting of the Association of Deans of Economic Faculties on March 19 and 20, 2026. The meeting brought together representatives of leading economic faculties from the Czech Republic and Slovakia and provided a platform for sharing experience, discussing current challenges in higher education, and informal networking within the academic community.

The professional programme opened with a lecture by the Chair of the Council of the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education, Prof. Jaroslav Miller, who addressed recent developments in accreditation standards. This was followed by a discussion focused on experiences with the implementation of functional positions and higher education reforms in Slovakia, led by representatives of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Anita Romanová, Dean of the Faculty of Business Management, and Vladimír Bolek, Vice Dean for Education.

A significant part of the programme was devoted to a joint discussion among members of the association, reflecting key issues currently resonating across the academic environment. Topics included multiple academic affiliations, expected developments in follow up master’s programmes, evaluation of academic staff, the setting of exit strategies, and issues of institutional resilience, including cybersecurity and the influence of foreign powers.

“Meetings of deans of economic faculties represent an exceptionally important platform for the open exchange of experience and the search for joint solutions to current challenges faced not only by Czech but also Slovak universities. I am pleased that we had the opportunity to host this important event at the Faculty of Management in Jindřichův Hradec,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Mojmír Sabolovič.

The meeting was attended by the majority of current and emeritus members of the association, representing a wide range of economic faculties and institutions from both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In addition to the professional programme, participants also took part in a social programme presenting Jindřichův Hradec through a unique experiential format. This included a guided tour of a normally inaccessible archive located within the State Castle and Château of Jindřichův Hradec. The evening programme featured a performance by the well known local “singing lawyer,” JUDr. Ivo Jahelka.

Hosting this meeting confirms the active role of the Faculty of Management in discussions on the future direction of economic education and its engagement in key issues related to the development of the higher education sector both in the Czech Republic and internationally.
