Joint Laboratory FM VŠE and UTIA CAS – SALOME III

Building on a long-standing collaboration that began in 1997, the Faculty of Management at the Prague University of Economics and Business (FM VŠE) and the Institute of Information Theory and Automation of the Czech Academy of Sciences (UTIA CAS) have established a joint research initiative—SALOME III.


Mission

The mission of the SALOME III laboratory is to advance research in mathematical methods for data processing and evaluation, with a strong focus on their application in management and decision-making. The lab is dedicated not only to the development of theoretical insights but also to the education of future experts, researchers, and academics. It offers PhD students from both institutions a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and participate in high-level research as part of a collaborative doctoral program.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to both research and education. FM VŠE brings strong expertise in economics and management, while UTIA is a leading institution in the fields of information theory and automation. Together, they form a dynamic environment for fostering innovative approaches in support of managerial decision-making.

Joint Research Outputs

A key outcome of the collaboration was the joint submission of the project proposal “Information Engineering for the Future” to the OP JAK Excellent Research programme in 2023. Despite receiving positive evaluations and meeting all eligibility criteria, the proposal was not selected for funding.
