Complex Challenges in Tourism Development and Destination Management

The research group focuses on issues related to tourism development and the advancement of tourist destinations. Its primary interest lies in exploring complex, systemic problems that shape the tourism sector and influence the long-term sustainability of destinations. The group integrates knowledge from various fields of management, such as strategic planning, stakeholder management, marketing, and process/project management, with approaches rooted in systems dynamics and systems thinking. In addition to academic research, the group engages in practice-oriented work through commissioned research, consulting, and the development of methodological and strategic documents for destination management organisations (DMOs).
